The recipe Spicy Baby Potato Fry is tasty and easy to prepare. It’s best served as a starter or as a side dish to the main meal. It takes around 20 minutes to prepare the dish if the potatoes have been boiled, or an additional 10 minutes if the potato has not been boiled yet.

Ingredients

  • 400 gms baby potato
  • 2 inch ginger
  • 10-12 garlic
  • 1 tbsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tbsp coriander seeds
  • 8-10 dry red chilly
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 4 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp kasturi methi
  • 4 tbsp cream – optional
  • chat masala – to sprinkle 

 

I love using small potatoes for this recipe because I can just boil them whole without peeling them. If you want to substitute regular-sized potatoes, just quarter them, boil them until they go soft and then follow the recipe as is.

Instead of boiling small potatoes, season them with oil and salt and roast them in an oven at temperatures of 200 to 250 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 to 25 minutes. This will result in a more pronounced potato skin texture

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1

Before starting to cook the Spicy Baby Potatoes Fry recipe, be sure to thoroughly wash baby potatoes

To begin making the Spicy Baby Potatoes Fry recipe, boil 400 gms baby potatoes for 10-15 minutes. Once boiled, leave the boiled potatoes aside to cool.

Step 2

In a spice grinder, coarsely grind 8-10 dry red chili, 1 teaspoon cumin, 1 teaspoon coriander, 2″ ginger, 10-12 garlic cloves, 1 tablespoon oil, 4-5 tablespoons water with 1⁄2 teaspoon salt.

Step 3

Heat 2 tbsp oil in the kadhai, add boiled baby potatoes. Sauté on high flame until golden brown, then set aside.

Step 4

Heat 2 tablespoon oil and add in the above spices into a kadhai. Fry for 5-7 minutes in medium heat until the spices are cooked.

Step 5

Add the sautéed potatoes and mix well.

Add 4 tablespoons of heavy cream to the potato mixture and stir well. Make sure potatoes are skillfully coated with masala and cream. Adjust salt to your liking.

Step 5

Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of kasturi methi and mix it once. Turn off the heat.

Step 6

Sprinkle some chat masala and serve hot.
