What is Pav Bhaji?

Pav Bhaji is a popular Indian street food dish originating from the bustling streets of Mumbai. It consists of a flavorful vegetable curry (bhaji) made from a mixture of mashed vegetables like potatoes, cauliflower, peas and capsicum (bell pepper), cooked with spices like pav bhaji masala, red chili powder, and turmeric. The bhaji is typically served hot, topped with a generous amount of butter, fresh coriander leaves, and sometimes chopped onions and lemon juice.

Alongside the bhaji, soft and buttery pav (bread rolls) are toasted on a griddle with butter until they are golden brown and crispy on the edges. The pav is served as an accompaniment to the bhaji, allowing diners to scoop up the flavorful curry with the bread.

Pav Bhaji is loved for its bold flavors, spicy kick, and comforting taste, making it a favorite street food snack or meal across India and beyond. It’s often enjoyed as a quick and satisfying meal, perfect for casual gatherings, late-night cravings, or anytime you’re in the mood for something deliciously comforting.
